Building Community in Sales @ RevGenius with Jared Robin

Podcast

Jared Robin, Co-Founder at RevGenius, a community of over 17,000 sales, marketing, rev-ops, and customer success professionals.

Before being a full-time community organizer, jared spent seven years as a strategic sales executive in FedEx, created a fashion magazine called Deux Hommes, and was Vice President of Sales at Juice.

Jared shares the multiple setbacks and career shifts that he went through early in his career, and how these particular moments of hardship have forced him to adopt a better mindset and goal-setting skills. Jared shares how at one point, he was living off a couch in an office building, but encouraged everyone to take bold risks if it meant finding a space where one could thrive and learn new things. Jared emphasizes that in dealing with setbacks, it’s crucial to understand your internal responses. Deal with any childhood trauma or baggage that’s triggering you and integrate it. Let go, and just continue selling.

32:16 Jared: “The biggest superpower that you could have in my opinion, is remaining level headed, but like truly, honestly doing that. And if you could do that, no matter the ups and downs cause they will come.”

34:20 Jared: “Push through and learn, but also listen to yourself. Because when you push through and something bad happens, listen to how it makes you feel, the emotion that exudes. Ask why you're triggered and figure it, trace it back and integrate it.”
